Truth is Mr. Valentine, I think you were a tad bit naïve, because if you really cared about love as much as everyone says you did then why do we only have one day of year where we share all that love? And think about this Valentine, what about all those poor souls out there with no love? It’s a little depressing for them not to have a special someone to share their day with don’t you think?
Don’t get me wrong Saint I’m not a hater of your holiday I’m simply stating what many people feel on your special day. Valentines Day is cute in a sense, like if you have a crush on someone you can express your feelings for them on this one day of the year without looking like an idiot but honestly, how many people are going to do that?
Personally I think your day is blown out of proportion and a tad bit corny… well really corny actually.
Think of it, your holiday is the one time of year where boys all over the world turn into a Shakespearian characters and start screaming their love for you. I’m just saying that for the girl that’s a little bit embarrassing don’t you think? And all the huge teddy bears and huge boxes of chocolate (well the chocolates okay) all of it is just sooooo corny!
Mr. Valentine you didn’t think that not everyone is going to love your holiday. Your holiday is a 50-50 thing, either you love it or you hate it you can’t be torn between the two and if you were so loving and caring why didn’t you think of sharing the love with all the singles out there hmm? If a girl wants to tell a boy she loves him or whatever on Valentines Day no boy is going to give a crap… well unless he likes her too and was just waiting for her to say something but in all seriousness she is more than likely going to make a fool of herself.
Oh and Valentine you didn’t realize something else with your clever idea of the special day… What on earth do you buy for a boy on Valentines Day? Seriously, most boys don’t like chocolate and I’m sure a young gentleman wouldn’t necessarily love a bouquet of flowers now would they? Or necklaces or all of the other “gifts of love” as you call them. Sure gents like food, but what if he plans to wine and dine you for Valentines Day… what do you give him in return?
All the romance and corny love is just too much that most woman spend February the 14th hiding in their basements with the tub of Ben & Jerry’s proclaiming about how much they hate your day...
No offence. :P
But think about this Mr. Valentine, what about sharing love with your signifcant other every day of the year? Why should there only be one day where you go above and beyond what you regularily would to express the way you feel about someone?
Personally I think it would be a thousand times cuter if you showed up at a girls house with a bouquet of flowers on any given day then the one expected day of the year. If you showed up at the girl of your interest house and told her you loved her or, if you were already dating her or married and you surprised her with a box of chocolates or something of equal corniness then you would win her over much better than if you were to do the exact same gesture on the one day of year where boys are expected to go above and beyond by their wives, girlfriends or interests. Don’t you agree? For any gents who might be reading this right now take notes cause I’m speaking from the majority of woman who feel the exact same way.

hahaha! loved this :)
ReplyDeleteso so so true!
I especially agree with the valentines day situation where you dont know what to buy for boys! its ridiculous! lol
and i think any girl who reads this would agree with what your saying, i also think that guys should be keeping all of this in mind
i think the corny stuff is pretty cute :) really old, but cute lol
I used to hate valentines day because all it did was point out the women who were single and it sucked :P But i think every woman should be shown love on this day, and not just the 14th, but everyday
cant wait to read more :)
I enjoyed reading this :) I'm not a hater of Valentine's Day, and I never have been, but I can see where you're coming from. I've always liked Valentine's Day, not because I have had something special to share it with, but because there's so much love that goes around - that's all I see at least. Maybe that's just me though, haha. I DEFINITELY AGREE YOU WHEN YOU SAID VALENTINE'S DAY SHOULD BE EVERYDAY. Last time I checked love wasn't an annual thing. You said this: "Personally I think it would be a thousand times cuter if you showed up at a girls house with a bouquet of flowers on any given day then the one expected day of the year." Uhm yes, pretty sure any girl would kill to have a boy that does this.
ReplyDeleteI could keep going on & on & on, but I don't want this to turn into a post instead of a comment. BASICALLY this is really great, and I like your writing style btdubb :)
